Nuclear plant decommissioning studies
The decommissioning of any power plant will have a range of effects upon the ecology of the area, some beneficial, some less so. The considerably greater timescale of nuclear plant decommissioning adds another layer of complexity, and it is therefore essential that the full range of potential impacts is studied before decommissioning begins.
Pisces Conservation were requested to assess potential environmental changes at 2 currently operational sites, Dungeness and Sizewell, that will occur when thermal discharges from the plants are discontinued. Other studies have included work at a previously-decommissioned site, Trawsfynydd in north Wales.
Pisces staff and consultants have many years' experience working in and with the power industry, and so have a unique understanding of power plant ecology. Pisces's library of power plant internal reports and grey literature provides a vast source of information on which to base sound commercial and ecological decisions.
