Ecological effects of small renewable energy plants, USA
Small-scale renewables can make a positive contribution to local electricity needs, with only minor long-term impacts. It is vital, however, that the scale of those impacts is evaluated before construction begins, to assess the existing ecology, and to identify local species and habitats of particular concern.
Pisces Conservation were asked to study proposed small-scale tidal power facilities on the East River, New York for Verdant Energy, and have since continued to work for other companies investigating issues related to the deployment of these plants.

Pisces staff have many years' experience studying the ecology of all forms of power generation; in addition, we have successfully completed a large number of power plant-related projects in NY State, California and Wisconsin, and have a thorough knowledge of current environmental legislation and practice in the USA.

Further information on our power plant-related work is available on our Power Station Effects website.
